The May 1 episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ was downright shocking. The final seconds of the episode literally took my breath away. It was, without a doubt, the most jaw-dropping moment in the show’s history.
Game of Thrones, you’ve done it again. Just when you think the show can’t get better, it does. On the May 1 episode, Jon Snow’s true fate was finally revealed, and you’ll never guess what happened.
Hello, Bran. We meet again. The Three-Eyed-Raven had taken Bran under his wing and helped him with his visions. Bran saw his father and brother Benjen fight long ago. It was a much happier time. Lyanna arrived and started showing off on a horse. Bran tried to walk up to her. He also recognized a young Hodor — who could talk!
The Three-Eyed-Raven brought Bran back to reality. Bran was pissed he was taken away from a happy time. “If you stay too long beneath the sea, you’ll drown,” the Three-Eyed-Raven said. Bran confronted Hodor and said he’d heard him talk, but Hodor wouldn’t say anything but “Hodor.” Hodor carried Bran out to Meera, who was still clearly upset over Jojen’s death.
Bran told her that the Three-Eyed-Raven said a war was coming, but she didn’t care. She refused to go inside the cave with Bran. Suddenly, a tree girl in the distance said to Meera, “Brandon Stark needs you.” She’s right!
Jon Snow’s body was still in the same place it was last episode. Aliser and Davos were still at odds. Aliser was ready to get rid of Davos and everyone else on the other side of the door. Davos was going to be killed instantly whenever he walked outside.
Suddenly, Aliser and his men heard a noise. It was the Wildlings! Edd Dolorus was back and ready to put up a fight. But first, Edd and Tormund went to see Jon’s body.
Jaime, Watch Yourself
Over in King’s Landing, a man was gossiping about Cersei. When he went to relieve himself, The Mountain pulled a Prince Oberyn and smashed his head in. After his latest killing, he went straight to Cersei. He followed her everywhere. When Cersei was getting ready to go to Myrcella’s funeral, she was met by guards. Tommen forbid her from going. He wanted her to stay in the Red Keep.
Tommen and Jaime were standing vigil by Myrcella’s body. Tommen wasn’t sure of anything at the moment. He was lost. Jaime asked him why he hadn’t gone to see Cersei since her walk of shame. Tommen said he felt weak. He wasn’t able to protect his mother or wife, so how could he ever be a good king?
The High Sparrow showed up uninvited, and Jaime pushed Tommen to get out and go see Cersei. Let’s just say that Jaime wasn’t the High Sparrow’s biggest fan. Without hesitation, he threatened to kill the High Sparrow. Jaime was ready to fight, but so were the High Sparrow’s men. The High Sparrow urged Jaime not to underestimate him, especially since he’d pretty much overthrown an empire with ease.
Tommen headed over to the Red Keep to see Cersei, and he apologized for not coming sooner. He was pretty much the only person in King’s Landing with a good heart. He felt super guilty for not killing the High Sparrow. He wanted to be strong, and he needed his mother’s help. Don’t do it, Tommen…
Unchaining The Dragons
Tyrion was keeping up with his drinking over in Meereen. One of his main concerns while Dany was away were the dragons. He wanted them to be unchained, and he claimed to be their friend. So Tyrion and Varys headed down to where the dragons were being held. Tyrion took off their chains and swiftly walked away. Seriously, they’re fire-breathing dragons. “Next time I have an idea like that, punch me in the face,” Tyrion told Varys.
Ramsay and his father were trying to decide the next plan of attack about Sansa. The Bolton hold would never be secure as long as the Starks were around. Ramsay wanted to charge Castle Black and kill Jon Snow. He had no idea JS was already dead. Roose quickly turned down that idea.
A messenger soon walked in and revealed that Lady Walda Frey had given birth to a baby boy. So, basically, Ramsay had no claim now. What did Ramsay do? He KILLED HIS OWN FATHER. He told the messenger to say Roose was poisoned by their enemies and to send for Lady Frey and the baby. Oh my goodness.
Walda and the baby showed up, and Ramsay led them to a dungeon of dogs. She pleaded with him not to hurt her and the baby, but her words fell on deaf ears. Ramsay watched as the dogs killed her and his baby brother.
The Waif came back to fight poor Arya again. Blind Arya was struggling hardcore. Jaqen showed up and tested her. She passed. He told her to follow him — she was no longer a beggar. Meanwhile, Brienne was busy telling Sansa about how she’d tried to track Arya down.
The gang was all preparing to go to Castle Black, except Theon. He believed that Jon Snow would have him killed for betraying him. Sansa swore she would protect Theon. But Theon didn’t want to be forgiven for his sins. He needed to go home.
Speaking of the Greyjoys, Yara was busy fighting with Balon, who stormed out in a fit of rage. In the pouring rain, he walked right into his presumed death brother, who threw him over the side of a rope bridge. Yara vowed to find her father’s murderer. She thought she would take over as ruler of the Ironborn, but someone told her that it wasn’t going to be that easy.
Davos went to see Melisandre and asked if she could use her magic to save Jon. She knew of reanimation, but she didn’t know if she could even do it. Melisandre was doubting her abilities, but Davos still had faith in her.
Melisandre went to Jon Snow’s body and wiped all of the the blood away. She cut off some of his hair and threw it in the fire. She started to chant, and it looked like it wasn’t going to work. Then she whispered, “Please.” Still, nothing happened. Davos, Ghost and Melisandre were the only ones left. Davos eventually left, but then Ghost sensed something. That’s when Jon Snow took the first breaths of his new life. Yes, JON SNOW IS ALIVE! I REPEAT: JON SNOW IS ALIVE. JON SNOW LIVES.
