Now, Real have some serious concerns on the injury front for this one. Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is nursing a muscle injury and will be rested with the Champions League second leg game against Manchester City in mind. But a further blow to Real’s plans is the absence of Karim Benzema. Rihanna‘s former boyfriend also carries a slight knock, but should be fit for the upcoming City game.
With Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane rotating his troops, Sociedad will be difficult opposition, especially on home soil. Real will remember last season they came unstuck and lost 4-2. Any kind of result like that and it would be very difficult for them to recover and stay in the championship race.
Real Sociedad are suffering with a huge blow, with star striker Carlos Vela missing through suspension. However, with Yuri Berchiche, Mikel Oyarzabal and David Zurutuza all declared fit after suffering knocks in their previous game against Villarreal, they will be a tough proposition.
With Real Madrid’s attentions turned towards the bigger prize and their second leg semi-final Champions League match, this may just be the end of their title race. Don’t forget, only last month Sociedad defeated the great Barcelona 1-0.
