The Blues showed that their fragilities in the playoffs, they’ve crashed out almost immediately in previous years, are something of the past by defeating a very stubborn Chicago Blackhawks team 4-3 in the first round of the playoffs. They’ve got a strong mentality and team ethic that will get them through, and could take them to the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Stars are a decent team, they’re not the Central Division Champions for nothing! However, they’ve not really had the best of times against the Blues. In fact, they’re 0-4 in games this season, so they will need their luck to change if they want to get anything out of this one. The Blues are also even in and away from their home this year, so they travel well.
Brian Elliot should start between the posts for the Blues, and he will be hoping to continue to perform well in the playoffs. His impressive .929 save percentage against the Blackhawks’ impressive offense showed he’s a rock in goal.
However, Tyler Seguin‘s absence for at least two of the opening games in this series will be a HUGE blow for the Stars. He’s out injured with an achilles tendon cut, so Dallas will have to make do without the second overall points leader.
Given the fact St. Louis already have the upper-hand on Dallas in the head-to-head this season, it’ll be difficult to see the Stars coming out of this series. But if they get the first win on the board, that makes anything possible!
