The details surrounding Prince’s death remain a mystery. The singer reportedly had a problem with drugs, namely Percocet, in the time leading up to his passing, and the reason it go so bad is because he was using the meds to deal with the pain from his alleged battle with AIDS, according to a new report. SO sad.
We won’t know what caused Prince’s tragic death for a few weeks, but a wild new report about the singer’s alleged life-threatening battle with AIDS definitely paints a different picture from what we expected. He’d reportedly been taking Percocet to manage the pain from the illness, a new report claims, and it’s possible that his intake got a little out of control.

After allegedly contracting HIV in the 1990s, Prince refused medication due to his beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness, the National Enquirer reports. According to the mag, the singer was diagnosed with full-blown AIDS six months before his death, and began taking “prescription opiates” to deal with the pain.
Officials confirmed that Prince had prescription painkillers in his possession when he was found dead on April 21, and he reportedly overdosed on Percocet just one week before his death. At that time, the “Purple Rain” singer was on a flight home from Atlanta, when the pilot had to make an emergency landing so he could be administered a “save shot,” according to TMZ. He was then rushed to the hospital and discharged after a few hours.
Prince’s autopsy was completed on April 22, but it takes weeks to go over everything and do the toxicology reports, so we won’t know if drugs had anything to do with his death for quite some time. Remember Prince by checking out his greatest hits HERE.
Even though Prince invited fans to his home for a dance party on April 16 and assured them he was doing fine, the National Enquirer reports that things were not good for him during his final weeks. “Doctors told Prince his blood count was unusually low and that his body temperature had dropped dangerously below the normal 98.6 degrees to 94 degrees,” the mag’s insider claims. “He was totally iron-deficient, very weak and often disoriented.”
