‘The Voice’ was ALL about Team Blake on the April 25 episode! All three of the country singer’s team members came to play with breakout performances that, to me, definitely solidified their spots in the Top 10.
Blake Shelton, 39, is used to having fan favorites on his team on The Voice, and with his artists generally falling in the middle of the pack this season, it was time for a change on the April 25 episode. Of course, Blake is on his 10th season doing this, so he knew just what to do to make his three artists stand out…and that’s exactly what happened.

Is it just me, or did Team Blake totally kill it last night?! As I’ve watched this season, Paxton Ingram has, for some reason, been one of the more unmemorable contestants, and I was pretty surprised at Blake’s decision to choose him in both elimination rounds AND as his save in the Live Playoffs. But Paxton totally proved why he deserves to be here on April 25, taking Pharrell’s advice by singing an inspirational song. He chose “Break Every Chain,” and it was absolutely breathtaking. The performance was just what he needed at this point in the competition, and to me, he was a standout of the night.
Then, there was Mary Sarah, who reminds me a lot of Blake’s Season 9 finalist and eventual show runner-up, Emily Ann Roberts. As a country fan, I tend to love these types of singers on the show, and that’s been no different with Mary this year. I thought the melding of her old-school style with a contemporary twist on “Johnny and June” was brilliant, and I can definitely see her making a run for the finals, just like Emily did.
Finally, Adam Wakefield: He’s probably been the biggest fan favorite on Team Blake throughout these live shows so far. He took a big risk by performing Journey’s vocally-challenging “Lights” last night, but he never faltered once, and made the song his own despite it being outside his comfort zone. He may not belt out tunes like Mary and Paxton, but he has a unique voice all of his own, and he shows a different side of it each and every week.
Of course, these three are up against some tough competition — Christina Aguilera, has the show’s front runner, Alisan Porter, on her team, while Pharrell’s Hannah Huston and Adam’s Laith Al-Saadi closed the show with two of the best performances of the night on April 25. So it’s going to be an interesting road until the end of this competition, but if America is on the same page as me, then all of Blake’s artists will definitely be in the Top 10 after tonight!
