Oh no! Prince allegedly was a regular drug abuser, according to two of his siblings. Contrary to popular belief that the singer led a clean and healthy lifestyle, they revealed that he had a very well hidden habit.
So shocking! Prince never seemed to have any history of drug or alcohol problems throughout his many years in the music business before passing away suddenly at 57-year-old. But a stunning new report claims that he regularly used cocaine and the painkiller percoset, and the people spilling on his alleged substance abuse are none other than his own relatives!
In a mind blowing new development, Mike Padden, a former attorney for Prince’s half sister Lorna and stepbrother Duane in the early 2000’s, tells TMZ that the musician regularly abused both cocaine and percocet according to his relatives. While it’s unclear how close Lorna was with her half-brother, Duane was close enough that Prince hired him on as his bodyguard at one point.
Unfortunately, neither are around to corroborate Mike’s information as both of the relatives have since passed away. Duane died in 2011 and Lorna in 2006, so it’s unclear if the singer was allegedly abusing drugs in the time leading up to his Apr. 21 death. According to the site, Mike contacted to police about the drug allegations that his former clients had provided him about the singer, and he’s since been interviewed by detectives investigating Prince’s death.
However, the site notes the narrative we’ve all known – that Prince lived a healthy, clean lifestyle – was much more on point. They report that they have “spoken with several people who were around Prince in the last few years of his life who say they saw no evidence of drug use…saying Prince was a ‘health nut.'” Which is much more believable as Prince is one of the few artists out there who was never linked to drug abuse over his decades long career in music.
Prince’s own attorney shot down the drug use allegations on Apr. 26, telling the Associated Press that “Everybody who knows Prince knows he wasn’t walking around drugged up. That’s foolish. No one ever saw Prince and said, ‘He looks high.’ It wasn’t what he was about,” L. Londell McMillan said, adding that the superstar lived a “clean and healthy lifestyle.”
HollywoodLifers, do you believe Prince’s relatives accounts of his drug use? Or do you think they could have been making things up?
