Ted Cruz may be going with a familiar face when it comes to picking his dream vice president. The GOP candidate is considering former opponent Carly Fiorina as his running mate if he wins the party nomination. What an unexpected pairing!
Though it’s still a long way toward deciding who will win the republican presidential party nomination, Ted Cruz, 45, is already getting his list of potential running mates in order! His former competitor, Carly Fiorina, 61, is apparently at the top of that list! Carly suspended her presidential campaign in February 2016, and she’s been putting in a good word with Ted ever since!
Vice President Fiorina? Ted wants to make it happen, and it may be his secret trick to tackling current GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, 69. The news that Carly is being considered for the prestigious position was confirmed to PEOPLE magazine by the former Hewlett-Packard CEO’s spokeswoman.
Ted’s campaign manager, Jeff Roe, did say that there’s a shortlist for potential vice president picks, but declined to name any of the lucky individuals: “We have narrowed our VP candidates to a short list and are going thru the normal processes associated with picking a running mate,” Jeff said on Twitter.
Ted chimed in on the matter, stating that there definitely wasn’t going to be a decision anytime soon. Slow your roll, people! No decision has been made in terms of who a nominee would be or what the timing would be of the announcement,” Ted said via statement. It would make sense if Ted did choose Carly, as she’s been diligently campaigning for the Texas senator every since she dropped out of the race herself. After the Acela primaries, the course of the election could change either way for Ted. Seeing Carly announced as his running mate could be happening sooner rather than later!
