Another Coachella may have come and gone, but Sarah Hyland found a braided hairstyle that will live on forever — or at least through the summer. The actress showed off a part braid, part bun, part messy waves look that we’re practicing now so we can master it in time for the summer. Get the how-to, below!
Sarah Hyland, 25, looks like the most badass ballerina ever in a recent Instagram picture from an upcoming photo shoot. Wearing a black leotard, Sarah’s new dark bob was styled into a mix up of all of our favorite summer hairstyles that’s surprisingly easy to recreate.
Co-founder of Nine Zero One Salon, Nikki Lee, created Sarah’s totally cool hairstyle for the beauty blog she runs with Riawna Capri, Beauty Coach. While the hair duo shared pictures of messy textured waves, braided updos and glitter accented space buns all weekend long at Coachella, it was Nikki’s last festival post that really grabbed our attention. Sharing a picture of the Modern Family star with the caption: “Desert Drifter inspo🌵😍🌵@therealsarahhyland@beautycoach_com #BeautyCoachELLA,” we’re calling it early that you’ll be seeing this look post-festival season, too.
Starting with undone waves that Nikki created by using a texturizing spray like Unite Texturiza Spray and curling sections of Sarah’s bob in opposite direction around a curling wand, Nikki then got fancy with a braid and half knot combo. Working with the center section of Sarah’s hair, Nikki created a classic French braid, tying the braid off at the crown of the head and twisting the rest of the hair into an undone top knot.
Not only does the braided hairstyle give off an effortlessly cool vibe, it also just upgraded the half up, half down (or, hun) hairstyle that pretty much became last summer’s unofficial cool girl look. We’re also slightly obsessed with this look since it works just as easily on bob haircuts as it would on longer styles.
To complete her cool look, makeup artist, Denika Bedrossian, went all out with Sarah’s makeup. Brushing up her bold brows, Denika made Sarah’s green eyes pop by adding black liner on her lower and upper lash line, flicking the liner out on her upper lid for a classic cat eye. To amp the look up even more, Denika added lots of sparkly shadow across Sarah’s lid and along her lower lash line, and topped the whole thing off with a pale pink lip.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Will you give the braided half knot a try this summer?
