Rachel got her start as an intern at Rocawear, rising to become the creative director of the women’s and children’s divisions. She launched the Rachel Roy fashion label in 2005, and swiftly became famous. In 2009, she launched the more affordable RACHEL Rachel Roy collection, and now designs jewelry as well.

She was married to Jay Z’s frenemy Damon Dash

Rachel married Damon Dash, the co-founder of Rock-A-Fella Records and Rocawear (both co-owned with him by Jay Z, his sometimes-friend), in 2005. They divorced in 2009. Together they have two daughters: 16-year-old Ava Dash, and 7-year-old Talulah Dash. The split was so volatile that Rachel filed a three-year restraining order for herself and the girls against Damon following the divorce.

She’s best friends with Kim Kardashian
