What an amazing Prince tribute by The Boss! Bruce Springsteen opened his April 23 NYC show with a cover of Prince’s hit, ‘Purple Rain’ to honor the late singer in a very special way. Watch his whole performance here!
Bruce Springsteen is the latest musician to salute Prince, and he certainly didn’t disappoint! When the 66-year-old singer took the stage for the first time since Prince passed away on April 21, he didn’t just deliver an incredible performance of the late legend’s song “Purple Rain” — he dedicated the entire show to Prince!
Rather than opening his April 23 show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with a song of his own, Bruce decided to start with an epic rendition of Prince’s classic. Strumming his guitar and belting out the tune upon an appropriately purple-lit stage, Bruce made the crowd go wild with his Prince tribute. HollywoodLife.com was even there to witness the amazing performance and hear what Bruce had to say about Prince afterward!
“There’s never been anyone better,” Bruce told the crowd, also mentioning that the whole show would be dedicated to Prince. “Whenever I catch one of his shows I always leave humbled. I’m going to miss him we’re going to miss him.”
Bruce couldn’t have said it — or sang it — better! After Prince shockingly passed away on April 21, countless musicians, celebs, and fans alike couldn’t help expressing their sadness over such a tragic loss. Even some of his exes took to social media, including his ex-fiancee Sheila E. Clearly he left quite an impact on everyone, whether he personally knew them or not!
Although an autopsy was performed on Prince’s body only one day after his death, the results won’t be determined for another few weeks. Just before his death, Prince was suffering from a bad case of the flu, but drugs have also been speculated as his cause of death. No matter how he died, though, Prince’s legacy will live on forever thanks to musicians like Bruce!
