Preparations were underway at a building in the Paisley Park compound, though it’s unclear what’s happening at the memorial service. A food truck from People’s Organic, a local Minneapolis organic cafe, was on hand to cater the service, while Prince’s staff members carried in boxes and gorgeous bouquets of flowers. Obviously, the flowers were purple!
The memorial is private, and set to be intimate with just close family attending, according to TMZ. After Prince’s autopsy was completed on Friday, April 22, his body was released to his family. This is all just so sad. Of course, this day was incredibly hard for all his loved ones. Family members were seen showing up to the venue dressed in head to toe black, bawling and hugging as they prepared to honor the beloved singer, taken away from them far too soon.
Prince allegedly did not have a will made up, and if true, that means his vast, $800 million goes to his sister, Tyka Nelson! While Tyka and Prince were once estranged, they had become closer in recent years, and she was immediately at Paisley Park in the wake of his death, thanking fans for their gestures of grief and goodwill. She even dyed her hair purple in honor of her late brother.
