Okay, so I really loved ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War.’ The sequel features an all-star cast and jaw-dropping visuals. And the absence of Kristen Stewart’s Snow White doesn’t hurt the new film whatsoever.
Charlize Theron stole the show in Snow White & The Huntsman. She’s back and more wicked than ever in The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Chris Hemsworth returns as well, and Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt take center stage in the sequel. From a new storyline to magical effects to the cast’s chemistry, you need to know this story.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War is all about recovering Eric’s backstory and how his life interweaves with Ravenna (Charlize) and Freya’s. After Freya (Emily) flees her sister Ravenna’s kingdom to start a new life following the death of her baby, she forces a young Eric (Chris) and Sara (Jessica) to become her warriors.
They fall in love — against Freya’s strict rules — and are torn apart. Years later, the two reunite to fetch the precious Magic Mirror that Ravenna coveted.
The new storyline is fresh and fun. Chris Hemsworth continues to take on the leading man status with ease. His character is both vulnerable and charming. But at the end of the day, The Huntsman: Winter’s War is all about female empowerment. Charlize, Emily and Jessica couldn’t be three more perfect actresses to be in a movie together about badass women ruling the world.
We already knew Charlize is a force to be reckoned with from the first movie, and the additions of Jessica and Emily are so on point. Jessica’s character is gritty, stubborn and confident. While Emily’s Freya may appear delicate on the outside, she’s as sharp as a sliver of ice.
All in all, The Huntsman: Winter’s War is a movie that you’ll sit back and enjoy regardless of how you felt about the first movie. The visual effects will blow you away, and the movie features some very steamy scenes between Eric and Sara. The cast gels perfectly together, and it’s entertaining to watch. If you ever wondered what a sexy live action version of Frozen would look like, this is it.
