He was hospitalized a week ago
As previously mentioned, Prince was flying to a concert in Atlanta, Georgia when his airplane was forced to land in Illinois because he was sick on April 15. Outlets reported that he was later rushed to the hospital with the flu.
He’s broken multiple records — and won an Oscar
He has sold 100 million plus records worldwide, won an Academy Award for Best Original Score in Purple Rain, a Golden Globe and seven Grammy Awards total. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
In 2001, after years of debating with musician Larry Graham, he converted, calling it a “realization.” He was reportedly attending meetings at Kingdom Hall and actually went door to door as well.
He is has been married multiple times.
Prince has been linking to multiple stars — Bria Valente, Kim Basinger, Susanna Hoffs and Carmen Electra. In 1985, he got engaged to Susannah Melvoin, but they never married. In 1996, he married Mayte Garcia, his backup singer and dancer, and they had a son who sadly passed away a week after his death due to Pfeiffer syndrome. They divorced three years later. In 2001, he married again, Manuela Testolini, but they only lasted five years, divorcing in 2006.
He was writing a memoir.
He announced that he was writing a memoir, The Beautiful Ones, in March while at a concert. “The good people of Random House have made me an offer I can’t refuse!” Prince told the crowd. Trevor Noah and Gayle King had been invited to the show, so they could hear the news; he announced the memoir and the title adding, “You all still read books, right?”
