A source close to Prince’s inner friend group tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Prince was in denial regarding the seriousness of his illness. “It felt to his friends there was a bigger disease he wasn’t admitting to,” the insider said. Although Prince claimed he was feeling fine only five days before his death, we hear that friends were trying to get him to take it easy. He didn’t listen. “He’s tenacious and wanted to go out, while his people wanted him to stay home and rest,” the insider added.

As HollywoodLife.com previously told you, the popstar was dealing with a severe case of the flu during the weeks before his death. Though he was under the weather, he didn’t cancel what turned out to be his final concert on the Piano & A Microphone Tour on April 14 in Atlanta, Georgia. Unfortunately, Prince was feeling so poorly on the ride home that his private plane had to make an emergency landing in Illinois so he could be rushed to the hospital.

Prince’s body was discovered inside an elevator in his Minnesota home, according to the police report: “On April 21, 2016 at about 9:43 am, sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical call at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen,” the police report from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office reads. “When deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive male adult in the elevator. First responders attempted to provide lifesaving CPR, but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07 a.m. He has been identified as Prince Rogers Nelson (57) of Chanhassen.” So sad.
