Our hearts are breaking from seeing the transcription of the 911 call about Prince’s death. We’ve learned that by the time he was found, it was too late to save him. The music icon was dead by the time the 911 call was made. We have the tragic details, right here.
The story of Prince’s death just keeps getting more devastating. The 911 call transcription was released on April 21, and it’s become clear that emergency professionals didn’t even have the opportunity to save Prince because he was already dead when the 911 call was made. Here’s the scoop.

EMTs never even had the chance to revive Prince, because by the time he was found (or at least by the time police were called), he was already gone. We learned this from the release of the 911 transcript on April 21. The “unnamed male” calling originally say that someone in the home is unconscious before admitting that they were dead and then finally that the dead person was Prince. So tragic.
The caller also admits that he doesn’t know how Prince died, just that everyone in his home was “distraught” about it. The dispatcher classified the situation a DOA – dead on arrival. Read select parts of the transcript below, and read the whole thing right here.
UM: Yeah, we have um, yeah, we have um, so yeah, um, the person is dead here.
D: Okay, get me the address please.
UM: Okay, okay, I’m working on it.
D: Concentrate on that.
UM: And the people are just distraught.
D: I understand that they are distraught, but…
UM: I’m working on it, I’m working on it.
D: Okay, do we know how the person died?
UM: I don’t know, I don’t know.
D: You’re at Paisley Park, okay, that’s in Chanhassen. Are you with the person who’s…
UM: Yes, it’s Prince.
UM: The person.
D: Okay, stay on the line with me.
Ambulance dispatcher: Ambulance, Shirley.
D: We have a person down, not breathing.
AD: Down, not breathing.
UM: He’s, he’s…
D: We’re going to get everybody, go ahead with the transmittal.
S: Yea Kayley this is Shirley at Ridgeview, you can cancel anybody going to Audubon, confirmed DOA.
KM: Okay, thank you.
S: All right, thanks, bye.
