Madonna Mourns Prince’s Passing: We’ve Lost A ‘Visionary’
Since Prince’s extremely tragic and untimely death, fans, celebrities, and fellow artists have expressed their shock and immense sadness for losing such a legendary musician far too soon. But Madonna’s heartbreaking tribute to the late icon is one of the saddest we’ve seen yet.
Although the pair didn’t always get along, there’s no question Madonna, 57, is devastated over the death of the prolific singer and songwriter, Prince. After all, he did help produce her 1989 album, Like a Prayer. And from one icon to another, Madonna was extremely heartfelt when she posted an emotional photo and message on her Instagram account on April 21. Grab your tissues, this one’s a tearjerker.

“He Changed The World!! A True Visionary. What a loss. I’m Devastated. This is Not A Love Song,” Madonna captioned the pic, which features both legends wearing matching yellow jackets. SO sad! And although the longtime friends were rarely photographed together, they were rumored to have briefly dated in 1985. We can only imagine how truly devastating this must be for Madonna.
The pair also collaborated on “Love Song,” which was featured on Madonna’s fourth studio album, Like a Prayer. And the two made quite the pair! More recently however, the stars made headlines when Madonna attended the singer’s intimate Paisley Park concert in October 2015. Madonna and her crew — who had just wrapped a concert nearby — began a dance party on stage before she took her spot in the audience to watch Prince perform, according to The Current. The “Purple Rain” singer reportedly played for over an hour and whispered into Madonna’s ear during the set before wrapping up the night at 3 a.m.
As previously reported, Prince unexpectedly died on April 21 at his Paisley Park estate. The prolific singer was only 57 years old. And although his cause of death has not yet been confirmed, just six days before he passed, Prince’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois in the middle of the night. The singer was then rushed to an emergency room and released just three hours later, according to reports. At the time,his rep confirmed to TMZ that the singer had been suffering from the flu for “several weeks” and that was what caused the emergency landing and hospital visit.

It’s also been reported that Prince was dealing with a “bigger disease” than he was letting on. However, Prince’s reps have stuck to the story that he was suffering from the flu.
