On the April 21 episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ the doctors worked frantically to save a young boy who was accidentally shot, but the moment that really took our breath away was when Arizona informed Callie she hired a lawyer in an effort to stop her from taking their daughter to NYC.
This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was all about “pulling the trigger” — in more ways than one. Not only did the doctors try to save a young boy who was accidentally shot, but Stephanie finally went out on a date with Kyle (Wilmer Valderrama), and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) officially informed Callie (Sara Ramirez) she hired a lawyer to take care of their custody battle.
The April 21 episode of Grey’s was appropriately titled “Trigger Happy” and that’s because, as we mentioned earlier, it was all about people — including our favorite characters — “pulling the trigger.”
First, the doctors were shocked to discover that an 8-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his friend after they found his mom’s gun. They frantically tried to save his life, which they did, but not without some consequences. Sadly, the boy who was shot will likely never walk again. And the boy who shot him ended up feeling really guilty until Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) told him it was an accident and he shouldn’t beat himself up over it. Owen (Kevin McKidd) overheard Amelia say this, and later, while they were alone, he said he always felt like his sister’s death was his fault. Apparently, Riggs cheated on Owen’s sister, and when he found out, he told her to get on a helicopter and fly home to him. As we already know, Owen’s sister died on that helicopter, so he always felt like it was his fault. Hearing Amelia talk to the little boy came as a bit of comfort to him.
Furthermore, Stephanie was reluctant to go on a date with Kyle because their texts were so hot and heavy, so she feared their expectations were way too high. But after Stephanie accidentally sent one of her sexts to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), she was convinced to take a shot and see what happens. To Stephanie’s delight, she and Kyle had a successful date and ended up having sex.
Ben’s (Jason George) storyline took a bit of a backseat this week, but he was on screen long enough to ask Bailey (Chandra Wilson) if he could return to anesthesiology while on his six-month suspension. Technically, he could, but she told him not to move forward with it and if he did, he should find somewhere else to sleep at night. Well, Ben went ahead and did what he wanted anyway. So, obviously, there will be more trouble for Ben and Miranda as the season comes to a close.
And then there was Callie and Arizona. Last week, Callie told Arizona she wanted to move to NYC with Penny and take Sophia with her. Arizona freaked out a bit and hired a lawyer, but this week, she held off on telling Callie until she felt confident enough to “pull the trigger.” Richard tried convincing her to work everything out with Callie, without the help of lawyers, and she ended up agreeing — at first. Once Arizona learned Callie had already filled out an application for a school for Sophia in NYC, she told Callie she hired a lawyer. And that’s when the first shot was fired. Things will likely only get worse from here on out.
