Just when you thought Dr. Ben Carson was free from critique and out of the spotlight, he again digs himself another hole. The doctor is being criticized for saying that Harriet Tubman should be on the $2 bill instead of the $20 bill.
Dr. Ben Carson, 64, is back at it again with the insensitive comments! This time the former Republican presidential candidate is throwing shots at Harriet Tubman of all people. Dr. Carson believes that we should put her on the $2 bill instead of the $20 bill — any the internet is not happy about it.
Fortunately the politician’s views has nothing to do with his distaste for Harriet Tubman, but instead his reverence for President Andrew Jackson. In an interview with Fox Business’ Neil Cavuto, Dr. Carson said, “Andrew Jackson was the last president who actually balanced the federal budget, where we had no national debt. In honor of that, we kick him off of the money.” We hear you Ben, but you just can’t downplay what Harriet has meant to this country. Her work as an abolitionist, rescuing over seventy slaves during her thirteen missions using the Underground Railroad was truly incredible.
So it’s not so much that he wants Harriet removed, he just doesn’t think we should substitute one for the other. However, not everyone feels the same way. Fans are taking to social media to voice their disapproval of Dr. Carson, and it’s taking a turn for the ugly.
