Ted Cruz has his sights set on the White House, and he refuses to play second fiddle to anyone else, especially Donald Trump! The GOP presidential candidate made it clear in a new interview that a vote for Trump means a vote for a losing team!
We’ve never seen Ted Cruz, 45, madder than when asked during a GMA Town Hall on April 18 if he would consider being Donald Trump‘s vice president! The republican presidential candidate said he wouldn’t accept the position under any circumstances, slamming Trump because he sincerely believes that Trump couldn’t win the general election. He’s not about to be responsible for getting another democratic president into the White House!
Good Morning America hosted a Town Hall-style event with Ted, in which viewers called in to ask the GOP candidate questions about his campaign. A sweet grandma named Bonnie asked him if he’d consider taking the VP position if Trump were to win the republican nomination. NOPE!
“I have zero interest whatsoever [in being Trump’s running mate],” Ted says. “There are a lot of reasons, but perhaps the simplest is, that if Donald is the nominee, Hillary [Clinton] wins. Hillary wins by double digits, and I don’t think there’s anything we can do to change that. And the stakes are too high. That’s why nationwide 65 to 70 percent of republicans recognize Donald Trump loses to Hillary, and we’re seeing republicans uniting behind our campaign. It’s why out of the 17 candidates who started in this race, five of them are supporting this campaign.”
“We’ve been supported by Rick Perry, by Lindsey Graham, by Jeb Bush, by Scott Walker and by Carly Fiorina. Now all of us started out as opponents, but we’ve come together because we’ve gotta win,” Ted continued. “And if Donald’s the nominee, he loses and if I’m the nominee, I beat Hillary Clinton. I’m winning in key swing states, we’re beating her with independents, we’re beating her with young people. And we’ve got to win; we can’t do another four or eight years on the road we’re on right now.”
The clock is ticking…countdown until Trump responds to slam Ted for having the audacity to speak out against him! With the New York state primary happening just one day after Ted’s GMA appearance, things are definitely going to get nasty! Another interesting note: No mention of Bernie Sanders, 74 whatsoever. He seems pretty certain that Hillary’s going to win the democratic race!
