Ready, set, GO! The Boston Marathon is back at it again, winding through Beantown for 26.2 arduous miles. On April 18th, watch every runner at every mile on the live stream here!
The first wave of elite men in the Boston Marathon will begin the race at 10:00am EST and three more waves will stagger onto the course in 25 minute increments. But the action actually starts earlier with the mobility impaired participants starting at 8:50am. Runners must qualify well in advanced for the annual, challenging competition. Marathons are pretty long races and because this one in particular is so difficult to earn admittance to, maybe the best bet is to enjoy the action from your couch. Stay at home and watch every strider online here!

What makes this race so special is the very high standards for the competitors. Unlike other city marathons like Los Angeles or New York, where average, slow jogging citizens can enter, the Boston Marathon requires a qualifying time.
Depending on the age of the participant, runners must post times and apply with a fast finish from another approved marathon course. As an example, a 30-year-old male must post a time of 3 hours and 5 minutes. Which comes out to about a 7 minute mile. Which, as they would say in Boston, is wicked fast! Try it, good luck!

The other, piece of history which sets the race apart from others is the terrorist attack during the 2013 race. When two bombs went off during the Boston Marathon in 2013, 3 people were killed and 264 were injured. That incident forged the city and the nation. “Boston Strong,” became a rallying phrase used as an inspiration for all those effected by the senseless act of violence. The race will go on in 2016, 3 years since the horrible attack, and all those participating will do so with courage and bravery.
What do you think HollywoodLifers? Would you, could you, have you ever run a marathon? Or are you happy to just watch the action online from the comfort of your own home?
