Whoa — the conservative argument bashing same-sex parenting is NO longer valid! A new study has surfaced, proving that same-sex parents are — obviously — as good as opposite-sex ones and children are not affected by the sex of their parents. About time!
A new study, with conservative-approved methodology we might add, showed once and for all that yes, same-sex parents are JUST as capable as opposite-sex parents. The experiment, conducted by the Williams Institute, which is an LGBT think tank at the UCLA School of Law, has FINALLY put an end to unfair arguments claiming gay couples should not be raising children.
Published in the Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics, the study compared the children of same-sex parents with the children of opposite-sex parents. And while similar studies have been done before, THIS experiment was unlike any other. Many people who are not in favor of same-sex parenting, like to site Mark Regnerus’ now-debunked study — which focused on the children of divorced parents. However, this new research examines intact families, both same-sex and opposite-sex.
The best part? Its authors found “no differences” in children’s health, no matter the sexual orientation of their parents — shocker. Is anyone else not surprised AT ALL? The majority of the scientific community for one, expected this outcome. Welcome to 2016 everyone, where parental sexual orientation has no bearing whatsoever on a child’s well-being!
This is how the study went down: researchers tapped into data from the National Survey of Children’s Health to look at how the chosen parents and their children fared. What they found is that while same-sex parents did tend to report feeling more stressed, their children did not fare any differently from the children of opposite-sex parents.
Those findings even gave same-sex parents more credit because their higher stress rate should have caused a less favorable outcome for their children — but it didn’t! So basically this study suggests that the same-sex parents might be using additional support systems like parenting groups or counseling services, and likewise, their kids may also develop greater resilience skills having to defend against the stigma of having same-sex parents. Makes sense, right?
And there’s an obvious explanation as to why this new study has found more realistic results — it compared committed same-sex couples with committed opposite-sex couples. And in some ways, this new study isn’t even groundbreaking. There have already been scientific consensus in support of same-sex families for decades. But hopefully, since this experiment has been deemed “conservative-approved,” people will finally become more accepting of ALL types of families!
What do you make of this new study, HollywoodLifers? Do you think these findings are credible?
