Country is coming to Coachella! It’s not the genre of music we’re used to seeing at the festival, but Chris Stapleton is ready to bring Nashville to Indio in 2016 with a sure-to-be epic show. Relive his five best performances ever in anticipation here!
Chris Stapleton, 38, has spent most of his career behind the scenes as a songwriter, but he’s made quite the statement as a solo artist in the last year, and we’re looking back at some of his most memorable performances. What better way to get hyped up for his upcoming appearance at Coachella, right?!
Coachella is arguably the hottest music festival of the year, so it’s a HUGE gig for Chris to have booked. He’ll be playing in slots on both Sundays, April 17 and 24, among other performers like Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Guns ‘N Roses and more. Stream music from Chris and other Coachella artists completely unlimited and ad-free HERE.
In honor of this upcoming appearance, we’re looking back at some of Chris’ best performances to get pumped for what he’s going to bring to the stage this weekend. Between the ACMs, CMAs and much more, there’s a lot to choose from, but we narrowed ’em down right here:
1. 2015 CMA Awards
This show was when Chris first got his nationwide recognition — not only did he win Album of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, but he also took the stage with none other than Justin Timberlake! The guys gave a rendition of Chris’ hit “Tennessee Whiskey,” along with JT’s “Drink You Away,” and it was nothing short of INCREDIBLE.
2. 2016 ACM Awards
Once again, Chris was the star of the show at the ACM Awards just earlier this month. He took home Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, New Male Vocalist of the Year AND Male Vocalist of the Year, then sang his song “Fire Away” with his wife on stage. NBD! YOU CAN WATCH THAT PERFORMANCE HERE.
3. 2016 Grammys
Rather than performing one of his own songs at the Grammys, Chris teamed up with Gary Clark Jr. and Bonnie Raitt for an amazing tribute to B.B. King. Oh, and he also won Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance — what a night!

4. 2014 CMT Artists of the Year
Luke Bryan was being honored at this annual event in 2014, but had to pull out at the last minute when his brother-in-law tragically passed away. Instead, Lady Antebellum took the stage with Chris to sing Luke’s hit “Drink A Beer,” which Chris actually wrote, and it was incredibly touching.
You know you’ve made it when you get to perform on Saturday Night Live, right?! Chris got that opportunity back in January, when he sang his song “Parachute” for the live crowd.
What’s your favorite Chris Stapleton performance of all time, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited he’s performing at Coachella?
