It seems that every week after ‘Survivor,’ I’m left thinking, ‘That was the craziest tribal ever.’ Well this week was — but does the latest eliminated castaway agree? And what are her thoughts on the ‘sabotage’ that went down?
This season of Survivor might as well be called the season of blindsides. HollywoodLife.com caught up with last night’s victim to get the scoop on that “crush” from earlier in the season, the sabotage that went down, and of course, who is leading the pack now. Spoilers ahead if you have not yet watched last night’s episode.
Tell me about pre-tribal conversations. Did you have an idea of Cydney & Aubry’s plan?
Yes I did. Let’s just say my antenna was really up. Aubrey and I had been together initially on Brains, and I knew she was — and I mean this with all due respect — narcotic and paranoid. I mean. that’s what it takes to stay alive out there. She was fearful the guys would give up their idols to keep them together. So, yes I knew what was going on.
Physically, how taxing was it?
I weighed 94 pounds sitting there. I had an enormous patch on my right shoulder. I don’t think I had the glucose storage to stay. I was just at the end, literally, of my rope. I came home and slept 48 hours. I had no storage, no fat cushion. I started working out, eating my normal diet on a pretty quick basis. I’m pretty adaptive.
Talk a little about the way you were portrayed.
From the get go, it came across that I was a decent, caring human being. People wanted to let Aubry go home when she wanted to quit on day three. I made her promise, ‘If you get the doctor, you’ll come back to me.’ Why did I do that? Because I want people to be decent human beings. The world is such a horrible, dark place. So when you have millions watching you, maybe you can impact others by being a good person. I like to have fun. I’m not that obtuse, and I wasn’t that blunt as they showed. But I’d say the portrayal was 70 percent decent.
Can you reflect on the crush you seemed to have on Nick?
Ok, there was no crush on Nick. My attraction for him was a negative magnetism. However, I can appreciate a Picasso; when he stood still, didn’t open his mouth, he was a good looking man in the sense of a statue! As soon as he opened his mouth, it was over. There was no attraction whatsoever, but I can look at a jaguar and appreciate it for what it is. If anyone wants to say nick is not attractive, they probably need glasses. And I meant it in a totally platonic, artistic way.
When it comes to Jason & Scot, are they really as bad as it seems?
You are getting a very kind version of Jason and Scot; they’re worse. But, I have to say they both have extremely redeeming qualities. Scot is articulate, well spoken, he’s educated. Jason probably had a tumultuous upbringing; he was reprehensible at times. However, he also has a daughter who’s autistic and his love for her is genuine. I could see myself voting for Jason to win the million dollars, and I might. That’s what I do; I can find something I like about anyone. But overall, yeah, Jason and Scot got very kind edits. We may have had the worst two, misogynistic, patronizing. They don’t hate women — it’s all that just testosterone. They have an innate need to lead over women. I’ll stick with “reprehensible.”
Who are the biggest threats still left in the game?
Tai, period. He easily is underestimated; look at his size. He only weighed five pounds more than me. Talk about strength! We had conversations before I approached him about his alliance. You never know what he’s going to do. He’s utterly unpredictable and untrustworthy. He has a mental will to win and survive. That man was in a Vietnamese refugee camp; people have no idea what he has been through. And he had an idol — well, two now.
Would you go back and play again? If not, what would hold you back.
Possibly; [holding me back would be] the fact that I left weighing maybe 90 pounds. It was far worst than you know. It was absolutely brutal. There was a VERSA — that was prevalent. It was the hottest location ever.
Are you bummed Debbie went home, HollywoodLifers?
