“Man, guys, you know I can’t believe how fast 20 years went by. It’s crazy to be standing at center court with you guys and my teammates behind me…the journey that we’ve been on, we’ve been through our ups and we’ve been through our downs and I think the most important part is we all stayed together throughout,” he began, with a shout out to his fellow players.
Then things got really emotional as he told the home crowd, “I grew up a die hard, I mean a die hard Laker fan. I knew everything about every player that’s ever played here. So to be drafted and traded into this organization and spend 20 years here, I mean, you can’t write something better than this.” Awww! Where’s the kleenex cause we need it!
He made sure his beloved Laker home crowd got a proper send off by saying, “Thank you guys for all the years of of support, for all year years of motivation, for the inspiration….This has been absolutely beautiful, I can’t believe its come to an end. You guys will always be in my heart, I sincerely, sincerely appreciate it. No words can describe how I feel. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart, God I love you guys,” before ending with,”What can I say? Mamba out!” and an epic mic drop.
Kobe leaves the NBA as its third highest scorer and five NBA championships with the Lakers. His final game was his 25th 50 plus point game of his career, so he really went out with a bang!
