Is this not the best thing ever? There’s no bond like the one you have with your mentor. During his stop in Atlanta for the ‘Purpose’ tour, Justin Bieber paid homage to ATL’s finest, Usher. Little did we know that Usher would join him for an epic duet. Watch how great they sounded!
Justin Bieber, 22, took the stage in Atlanta for his ‘Purpose’ tour on April 13, and as if watching him dance to one of his hit songs didn’t have our hearts beating fast already, he reunited with Usher, 37, for a sweet, duet. Of course the roaring crowd lost their minds, and after you watch this video, you probably will too!
After JB rolled out a couple of hits from his top-selling album, he switched up the set just for his Atlanta audience. He started with a tribute to his mentor with an unplugged, cover of Usher’s 2001 hit, “You Got It Bad.” As tears of joy almost came to our eyes as Justin strung on his guitar, he briefly paused the set before Usher emerged from out of nowhere!
The piercing screams from crowd filled the Philips Arena, but that didn’t seem to phase the R&B icon or his protege. Usher led as Justin continued on the strings. The crowd even helped out with the chorus before the duo stood side by side for an amazing harmony.
It’s not shocking that these two have such great chemistry on stage though. Actually, Usher and Justin go a long way back. Before selling out arenas, the “Baby” singer was just a Canadian YouTuber with a dream. That’s of course before Usher took him under his wing and helped him get a record deal. And we’re so happy that those late, mentoring session happened, because it set the foundation for one of the best duets ever!
It didn’t end with a duet though. The “Sorry” singer graciously shared the stage with the A-town singer for a couple more songs. Usher commanded the mic with performances of “I Don’t Mind” and his classic, “You Don’t Have to Call.”
First surprise performances from Nicki Minaj, then Ludacris, and now Usher! That’s a lot to handle. We still might be catching our breath, but we have to say we’re loving all of these surprises the ‘Purpose’ tour has to offer. Watch out T. Swift, Justin may be giving you a run for your money!
