Will Smith is totally deserving of MTV’s highest honor! The actor, most famous for his starring role on ‘The Fresh Prince’ took the stage to accept the award presented to him by Queen Latifah & Halle Berry and started to get teary-eyed!
Will Smith got jiggy at the MTV Movie Awards! The actor accepted the award for being one of Hollywood’s most talented actors and his response was truly sincere. He thanked fans for their support and said that all he wants to do is continue to be a “light” for the generations to come.
Will has dominated TV and movies since the 80s. He rose to fame in the 1990s on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran for six years on NBC. He then starred in hit movies like Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black, I, Robot, The Pursuit of Happyness, I Am Legend, Hancock, Wild Wild West, Enemy of the State, Shark Tale, Hitch, and Seven Pounds. So it’s no wonder MTV honored him with the Generation Award.
Queen Latifah came out to formally give him the award and she talked about how, “No one has been more generous to me.” Then Halle Berry came out and said, “We love every single thing about you Will Smith. With every performance you see his soul. Will is a champion for diversity in Hollywood. Love you Will Smith.”
When Will finally walked out on stage to a roar of applause, he thanked everyone and said: “Wow, wow, man… I thought that was code for the old a** dude award. This is absolutely beautiful, I was in Brooklyn the other day and I was shooting and these women came running out they were like 35 and screaming oh, my God, Will, Will! They’re coming and screaming and there’s one kid and he’s like ‘oh, my God and he’s like I don’t know who you are.’ I released my first record when I was 17, this June marks 30 years in the business for me. I really want to say I am humbled I want all of you I’m dedicated to being a light in this world. There’s a lot of people suffering in the world … I just want to help in this world… there are a lot of people suffering in this world… I am dedicated until I die to light and to love.”
