Belle’s father wanted to arrange a meeting between Belle and Gaston, the very dashing Gaston. Unlike the Disney version, he was actually likable. His charm got the best of Belle. They had a sweet walk in the woods, but they were interrupted when Gaston heard a noise. He had heard an ogre. Gaston wanted to take the ogre back to her father, but Belle was determined to find another way. Gaston let Belle take the reigns.
They did some research in the library to find a solution to the ogre situation. They almost kissed, but Belle turned away. Seriously, could these two be any cuter?! But it just wasn’t meant to be. Belle later discovered that Gaston had tortured the ogre. Gaston wasn’t the man she thought he was. She let the ogre get away before reluctantly accepting Gaston’s proposal.
In the Underworld, Belle went to Rumple to try and save their child. She didn’t want him using any dark magic to save their baby. Belle threatened to leave him forever if he didn’t comply with her demands.
Emma woke up from a nightmare only to be back in her other nightmare. Snow had been killed in front of Emma, and the bad dream shook Emma to her core. Later, Emma started to think that her nightmare might actually turn into a reality
Regina spent all night trying to crack Hades’ protection spell on the elevator. She was able to open the door, and Snow, Emma and Hook were ready to go inside. Regina needed to talk to Zelena, the only one who had a real connection with Hades. The ultimate dark one was looking at his love from afar when he spotted a flower.
He immediately went to see Gaston, who was working at a pet shelter. Apparently, flowers shouldn’t be growing in the Underworld. Nothing could grow in the Underworld. But that had changed now because of Emma and the gang’s arrival. They had restored hope in a hopeless place. Hades wanted Gaston to take down everyone, starting with Rumple. He handed Gaston a set of lethal arrows.
Belle and Rumple walked outside of the shop and were met by an arrow fired by Gaston. Belle tried to put an end to the hostility, but she realized that Rumple had killed Gaston way back when. Rumple was ready to use a little bit of dark magic to defeat Gaston, but Belle said hell no to that.
Well, those arrows could actually hurt Rumple. That’s why he wanted to use dark magic. Belle didn’t want any fighting, her goal was to help Gaston move on. While looking through Gaston’s locker, Belle figured out that she was Gaston’s unfinished business. Gaston’s unfinished business took a backseat when Hades showed up to the shelter. He offered her a deal: Let Gaston and Rumple fight. If one of them threw the other into the River of Lost Souls, he would let her have her baby. Simple enough.
Hello, Old Friend
Regina went to visit Zelena and figured out that Zelena was in love with Hades. She was also looking for Zelena to reveal Hades’ weakness, but he only had one: Zelena.
Gaston found Rumple at the shop, or so he thought. He only hit a mannequin with one of his lethal arrows. Belle watched Gaston do it. She now knew he was willing to kill Rumple. She believed he was keeping the Her Handsome Hero around because he still had feelings for her. Nope. It was punishment. The book was a constant reminder of why he died. “You made me weak,” Gaston said to Belle. Yikes.
Belle revealed to a shocked and disgusted Gaston that Rumple was her husband. She went to Rumple and made him promise not to hurt Gaston. She told him about Hades’ deal, and Rumple just couldn’t accept what Belle wanted. He grabbed Gaston by the throat and had him right near the River of Lost Souls. However, a clever Belle tricked Rumple and commanded him not to hurt Gaston. But Gaston just couldn’t let his vendetta against Rumple go. He tried to kill Rumple one last time, but Belle accidentally knocked Gaston in the River of Lost Souls while trying to save Rumple!
To make matters worse, Hades’ deal was off because Belle threw Gaston in the river. Everything was looking up for Hades. Hope was slowly fading away in the Underworld. He gave that dead flower he found to Zelena. Maybe all hope wasn’t lost after all.
The end of the episode revealed that Emma’s dream was a vision, but it wasn’t a bad one. That monster they thought was after them all was actually Ruby. She was back! But why is she in the Underworld? Is she dead?
