Kate Middleton, 34, dropped jaws during a Bollywood charity dinner at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, India on April 9. The beautiful brunette was photographed strolling the red carpet with her dashing husband, Prince William, 33, while wearing a beaded Jenny Packham gown. Isn’t royal blue a great choice?
Kate has proven time and again that she can pull off anything, and that now includes Bollywood-esque evening gowns! Jenny Packham is one of Kate’s go-to designers, crafting those adorable outfits that Kate wore when she went home from the hospital after the births of both her kids. It’s no wonder that this sari-style dress looks amazing on her!
Her electric blue dress was so elaborate that the intricate beading had to be completed after she was already in India, according to PEOPLE magazine. Kate completed the look with a large pair of gold and blue drop earrings from Indian jewelry designer Amrapali. Wearing pieces by an Indian designer was extremely important to Kate, according to a a royal source. “She really wanted to wear a local designer at the earliest possible opportunity as a tribute to Mumbai’s wonderful design talent,” a royal source said.

Kate has totally figured out by now that she looks incredible in any shade of blue. Remember that dress she wore during her engagement announcement? Not to mention her sapphire engagement ring itself! Prior to leaving for their India trip, Kate rocked a sheer, floor-length blue polka dotted gown at Kensington Palace to greet Bhutanese and Indian UK residents. The $595 dress, from Indian designer Saloni, was incredibly daring with its sheer panels, but still demure with long sleeves and a high neck. Love it!
