Who’s holding the killer mask? And does that mean they could be a killer, too? There are many questions in our heads after this first look at season two of MTV’s ‘Scream’ Watch here!
Right before airing it at the MTV Movie Awards, MTV dropped the first very creepy look at season two of Scream, which we’ve been waiting desperately for! It features the return of all of our favorites (sorry, not you Piper!) and some of them are holding the mask in front of their faces. Uh oh. You have to watch this.

Now we can assume that it was Audrey behind that second mask on the finale of Scream‘s season one — but don’t be so positive. Executive Producer Jill Blotevogel chatted with us at the end of last season saying she didn’t really want to “commit” to that just yet. “I will say that Audrey was involved and there’s a possibility that was her,” she told us.
As for what else to expect in season two, well of course, there will be new characters, but it will also feature favorites from season one — just like the movies. “A decision was made early on that we didn’t want to kill everyone off. We wanted to get to know them more and fall in love with them,” she said. “It was very, very hard to lose Riley, to lose Will, to lose the Sheriff. I mean these were characters that we came to know and love. That was really sort of figuring out how Scream would work as a TV series, figuring out who we could lose. But our core cast will be back.”
One person that didn’t survive was Piper — and yes, she’s really dead. “That’s not to say you won’t see her in some flashbacks or in some prerecorded podcast,” Jill said. “Because of the nature of who she is, there’s certainly a chance that you’ll be hearing from her again, but yes, she is dead.”
We should expect “an ongoing thread” about Audrey’s connection to Piper and just “how dark her involvement was.” Even Jill admitted, “we don’t want her to be the killer, but then we also would be a little satisfied if she was.”
Season two of Scream will air on MTV on May 30!
