Is Ted Cruz okay? Should we be worried? The presidential candidate took home a major win at the GOP primary in Wisconsin on April 5, but people weren’t talking about his victory speech. They were very concerned about the strange fellow standing behind him on the stage! Who IS that guy?
It looked like Ted Cruz, 45, had the devil over his shoulder during his victory speech in Wisconsin on April 5. False alarm, kids; the “creepy guy” who had social media in a frenzy was Wisconsin State Representative Adam Neylon, who got up on stage to support Ted on his massive win at the GOP primary. People on Twitter were just a little freaked out by Adam’s strange expression during the segment. Click through to see the best memes!
We feel really bad for Adam; he’s just a regular guy, and everyone’s calling him ugly! But seriously, this is hilarious. He’s standing inches away from Ted, with the strangest smile on his face. Even Ted’s wife, Heidi Cruz, isn’t standing that close to him. Then, the flurry of insulting, worrisome, but yes, super funny, tweets began:

Who put the "Deliverance" guy behind Ted Cruz?

People even likened him to some unsavory characters, like the McPoyle brothers from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the incredibly creepy family that the gang has to deal with frequently, who have unibrows, eczema, and can’t stop drinking milk. They also compared him to serial killer Jeffery Dahmer, which is doubly hilarious since Ted’s been widely accused of being the Zodiac Killer throughout his campaign. What a tag team!
Poor Adam. As he explained on Twitter, he wasn’t trying to be creepy; he was just following orders! “LOL I just stood on the tape with my name on it,” he responded on Twitter to someone who told him he really needed to stand somewhere different next time. That doesn’t explain the face, though!
HollywoodLifers, were you freaked out by the guy standing behind Ted Cruz in Wisconsin? It’s okay! Tell us in the comments!
