The ‘American Idol’ finale is finally here! Part 1 of 2 kicks off tonight with final performances by the Top 3, and of course one contestant was sent home. Find out who it was!
We’re all dying to know — who will win the final season of American Idol?! Tonight, April 6, that question began to be answered as the Top 3 finalists performed for judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. Do you agree with the elimination tonight?
After the Top 3 sings a short song together about stealing the show, Trent Harmon kicks things off by singing an original single called “Falling”, showing off his amazing range and smooth voice. We can definitely see this song being a Top 40 hit in no time — and of course, we’ve already “fallen” for Trent’s voice.
Unfortunately, only two can make it to night 2 of the grand finale, and after the nationwide vote, it’s decided that La’Porsha and Trent will make it to the last battle. Sorry, Dalton! You did awesome and we can’t wait to see huge things from you soon.
Back to the show! Trent takes on Rod Stewart‘s classic “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and it’s just perfection. “I love that song! It was such a good song for you,” Keith Urban compliments him (and he basically has to shout to be heard over the cheering). “I thought it was a great choice,” Harry agrees. Yesss!
La’Porsha then does what she does best and goes full-on diva with “A House Is Not A Home” by Luther Vandross. He voice is, well, unreal. “That’s one of my top 5 songs of all time,” JLo sighs. “So beautiful, baby!” We agree. Next, Trent brings the house down with Sia‘s “Chandelier” and there’s not a person on the face of the earth who could critique this performance. Truly spectacular.
Not to be outdone, La’Porsha closes the show with “Diamonds” by Rihanna. There are no words for how good it is! She bursts into tears at the end and we are right there with her. Calling it now: she’s going to win this thing. Here’s everything you need to know about the American Idol finale! Harry Connick, Jr. told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Ryan Seacrest is “struggling” with the show ending.
HollywoodLifers, who will win American Idol? Be sure to VOTE tonight!
