It’s been a tough journey already for Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas — he had to sit last week out due to an injury, and he actually may have to sit out this week, too!
Paige VanZant did amazing with DWTS troupe member Alan Bernsten, last week when Mark Ballas hurt his back right before the episode. However, what’s the update on his status now? Well, Alan is still coming to rehearsals!

“There’s no fracture, thank God, but there is something other things going on that we’re just being careful of,” he told E! News in an interview at rehearsals on Friday. However, while they cleared him of serious injuries, he still hadn’t yet made the decision whether or not to perform on tonight’s episode.
“I’ve had the MRI, the CT scan, the bone scan. I’ve been in physical therapy,” he said. “I’m feeling okay. Every day is getting better.” He also added that he did fully choreograph this week’s dance, and thinks he’ll be ok — he has suffered this injury before, in season 16, but had more time to rest (it had happened on a Tuesday so he had nearly a full week).
During rehearsals, Alan has also been there helping out. “We’re tag-teaming…I’ve been shadowing and figuring it out as we go…I’m getting in there, but I’m not doing it 100 [percent] yet,” Mark explained.
Now last week, Paige and Alan scored a 24/30, and we have to say we were so impressed with him — he learned the dance in two hours! So, even if she does have to dance with him again, we know it’ll be stellar since she totally has the moves.
So, do you think Mark will perform tonight? Let us know! DWTS airs Mondays at 8PM ET on ABC.
