OMG, what a nail biter! After weeks of March Madness, Villanova has come out on top as the NCAA basketball champions, just barely edging out the UNC Tarheels at the buzzer by a score of 77-74!
WOW, what a game!!!! Congrats to our new NCAA basketball national champions, the Villanova Wildcats! We knew that North Carolina battling it out against Villanova was going to be an NCAA final for the ages, but we never expected it to be SO close! The teams were tied at 74 points with only four seconds left before Villanova’s Kris Jenkins hit a three pointer as the buzzer went off that ended the game! Congratulations to the Wildcasts, so very well deserved.

At the half it was super close, with North Carolina only up by four points, with a score of 39-34. But Villanova came roaring back in the second half, leading for most of it, up 10 points with less than six minutes left to play, but UNC started fighting back. With one minute to go Villanova was only up by one point at 70-69, then a UNC 3 pointer tied the game up at 74 points each with FOUR SECONDS to go!
Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono again proved to be a key playmaker, as the senior led a hard charge against North Carolina in what was his final NCAA game and 144th game as a Wildcat. But the Tar Heels had the weaponry of Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson also looking to make their last collegiate games a winning one.
The Tar Heels have been such a dominant force in college basketball, winning five NCAA championships, the last one being back in 2009, which was also the last year they made it to the finals. Out of the 68 teams that began in the March Madness tournament, UNC was the only number one seeded team to actually make it all the way to the Final Four after so many upsets of top teams that occurred along the way.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats were looking to win their second ever NCAA title, with the last one coming in 1985, also the only year the team made it all the way to the finals.
