WARNING: If you did not watch the season six finale of The Walking Dead, you are about to learn exactly how the episode ended. This is your last chance to avoid spoilers! You’ve been warned!
Wow. Honestly, what else is there to say about how the end of The Walking Dead‘s sixth, and likely best so far, season? Alright, ready to relive how it all went down? Here we go.
Negan arrived, and it was hands down the best entrance anyone has ever had not just on TWD, but on any show in the existence of television. Sorry not sorry, other shows. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a perfect choice for Negan, who was brilliantly charismatic and came from the comic page to life as if he literally popped out of it. He walked right out of the RV and straight up to Rick, introduced himself, introduced his bat, and then revealed that one of his people was going to have to pay for all of those they killed. Rewatch Negan’s Epic Scene Here.
Rick and his group were all on their knees with zero weapons, and Negan eyed each and every one of them to decide who should die. When he just couldn’t make the call he played eeny-meeny-minie-mo, and when the song ended we only saw from his victim’s POV. That’s right, we have no idea who he killed in front of everyone.
As Negan strikes the person with Lucille they are still conscious after the first hit, which is a testament to the comic in which it is Glenn at the end of the bat. However, without knowing who it is, we see Negan laugh and say that the person is “taking it like a champ” before swinging again and letting the screen go black instantly.
But, it’s not over then. He swings again, and again, and with every hit you can hear the person’s skull being crushed, oozing blood, and likely splattering all over the ground and people around him/her. It’s likely going to be one of the most violent scenes on television, and hopefully we’ll get to see it again from the audience POV when season seven returns. Fingers crossed!
