So, why is Alicia Keys stepping in for Pharrell on season 11 of ‘The Voice?’ Well, HollywoodLife.com has learned the two reasons the amazing singer has decided to join the show!
We all fell in love with Alicia Keys when she was a mentor for Pharrell‘s team on season eight, and we know that she has one hell of a voice, but why did The Voice decide to bring her on alongside Miley Cyrus next season? Well one of the reasons is to make the number of female coaches the same as the number of males!
“She is a female and producers wanted a fair panel with a second woman alongside Miley Cyrus so there would be two men and two women coaches,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “They want to increase the odds for the first woman coach win.”
“Secondly, Alicia has that R&B background that covers the other musical genres,” the source added. “With Pharrell gone, Alicia appeals to the soulful audience nicely.”
Well we’re not protesting Alicia coming on! We also know the NBC hit show is trying to expand the talent by bringing in the new judges, and changing out the OGs for a season.
“The Voice has probably seen every singer out there. The pool of singers that try out for The Voice or American Idol is saturated. A lot of people come back and try multiple times to be a part of the show,” an insider said. But Mark Burnett, among many reasons, feels that Miley is going to spark interest in singers young and old and quirky, that may have never applied before. It should add an amazing element to what The Voice already offers.”
Do you think Alicia Keys will be a good addition to The Voice?
