Well, this was a first! During the final minute of the New York Knicks game on March 28, young boy ran down the bleachers out onto the court. His mission? To bear hug Carmelo Anthony! Click to watch the hilarious video!
New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony, 31, was a bit taken aback on March 28 when a young fan ran onto the court to give him a hug late in the team’s 99-91 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Carmelo was a really good sport about it and once he realized it was a child, he side hugged him and affectionately patted the top of his head. Within minutes, the game official, Kevin Cutler, ran over to the boy and ushered him off the court. The adorable kid then ran off the wood and up into the stands where his guardian stood and clearly scolded him. Too funny.
“It was a little kid,” Carmelo told a reporter after the game. “I was shocked. I didn’t really know who was it until I actually looked over and saw that it was a kid.” he went on to say that, “I think it was because he was a little kid, they just let him go. Definitely a security issue, though, for sure.”
Well, the Knicks wound up losing the game, so maybe the young boy just wanted to tell comfort Carmelo and tell him that it’s no big deal. Who knows, but we applaud his adorable efforts to get up and close to the superstar.
