Several days after Garry Shandling’s sudden, untimely death at the age of 66, his primary care doctor has repeatedly refused to sign his death certificate; to his knowledge, Garry had been in good health, according to TMZ. The LA County Coroner has launched an investigation into his cause of death, because when a doctor refuses to take this action, there is clearly something wrong.
The LA County Coroner will look into Garry’s case and officially, for once and for all, determine his cause of death, which has been reported widely as a “massive heart attack.” The investigators have taken blood work from the emergency room where Garry was admitted, and subpoenaed medical records from his doctors, as well, according to TMZ. They’re getting to the bottom of this mystery!
It’s interesting that the doctor won’t sign the certificate, as he hadn’t seen Garry in over a year. But Garry did seek the help of a friend who’s a doctor after reportedly feeling “short of breath” and “achy” the night before his death. The doctor examined him, and told him that if he was still feeling ill the next day, to go to the ER. It was too late. The next day, Garry called 911 at 10:30am, going unconscious during the plea for help. EMTs arrived and rushed him to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica with a “weak pulse”; he died later that same day.
As HollywoodLife.com previously told you, Garry told Jerry Seinfeld, 61, in fourth episode of the 7th season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, that he had a serious health condition, a hyper parathyroid gland. The freakishly titled episode, “It’s Great That Garry Shandling is Still Alive,” aired January 20, 2016 — just two months before his untimely death.
