The #1 seeded Tar Heels have looked unstoppable during March Madness, battering those in their path. In the First Round they destroyed FGCU 83-67, and they followed that up with a Round of 32 demolition job of Providence in a 85-66 win.
The Hoosiers are seeded #5, so they’ve done exactly what’s expected them by reaching the Sweet Sixteen. They looked the real deal in their First Round blitz of Chattanooga 99-74, but were challenged to a much tighter game against Kentucky, who they just edged out 73-67 in a fascinating contest.
The Tar Heels boast a imposingly tall front line in Brice Johnson, Justin Jackson, Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks, that’ll sure trouble the much-smaller Hoosiers team. But in freshman Thomas Bryant, Kentucky has their own big man capable of high-scoring and rebounding. He scored 19 points in that win over their great rivals, as well as recorded 5 rebounds. Indiana will want a repeat of that performance if they are to win this one.
It’s hard to look past the Tar Heels. They appear commanding, boast a rich history in the competition and are a odds-on bet for the Final Four, never mind the Elite Eight. It’ll be a great game for the spectator, but pure torture for the fans!
