After 4 games, Uruguay currently sits in second position in the South American World Cup Qualifying Stage group with 9 points, three behind surprise leaders Ecuador. Brazil is in third, two points behind Uruguay. But it’s still very early stages, of course, and it’s a long way till the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
This game brings together two of the game’s finest talents, who will be going head-to-head in a battle against each other for country supremacy. Luis boasts an impressive goalscoring record for his country, hitting the back of the net 44 times in 82 games. Neymar, however, has more goals and better scoring ratio — with 46 goals in 69 games.
They will be backed by a fine supporting cast, with Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani partnering the biter Luis in attack. But it could be tough getting past that Brazilian defense of Thiago Silva and David Luiz.
Whatever happens, Luis revealed he has a bet in place with his club teammate. “I’ve bet a hamburger with Neymar, whoever loses has to pay, of course,”Suarez said in quotes reported by El Mundo Deportivo.
“Each of us will give his best for his team and the maximum for his country. Neymar is a very good teammate, we are always joking at Barca. Above all, we are team-mates and I’m sure that whoever wins will celebrate and whoever loses will receive the support of the other.”
How funny are those two? It’s good to see that these world-class talents don’t let their egos get in the way of a bit of fun.
