“What I’ll miss most about Shemar… I mean, everything,” Matthew says. He adds, “He’s one of my best friends in the world.” Aw! Derek and Matthew’s character, Dr. Spencer Reid, were especially close on the show. Derek even named his baby boy after Reid.
“Actors, we all come and go, but the attitude and the kind of person you are, what you exude, how you affect the people around you, that’s something else,” Joe Mantegna says in the video. “That’s unique. That unique aspect of him is what I’ll miss the most.”
A.J. Cook, who plays Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, reveals she’ll really miss “looking at his pretty face every day.” Us, too!
After 11 seasons on the show, Shemar is beloved among fans and cast mates. He’s truly one of a kind. “You work with someone that you love working with and then on top of it you know it’s the end of a relationship that you can’t replace,” Kirsten, who plays Penelope, says through tears. “It’s not like you can replace it.”
Executive producer Erica Messer knows a guy like Shemar doesn’t come around every day. “He will absolutely be missed,” she says. However, Shemar can come back to the show whenever he likes. “The door is always open for him.”
