Year after year we see injuries on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and this season it’s on week one! In this preview of rehearsals, Peta Murgatroyd accidentally elbows her partner, Nyle DiMarco in the face — and he needs stitches. Ouch!
Nyle DiMarco knows how to win — he is the most recent winner of America’s Next Top Model. However, it’s a whole new world on Dancing with the Stars and he started off with an injury. In a new video, which will be shown on the season 22 premiere of DWTS, he decides to rehearse shirtless with her partner Peta Murgatroyd, and she may get a little too distracted!
“Yes! I’m totally fine with this,” Peta says in the clip when Nyle, 26, takes his shirt off to practice. However, she quickly starts practicing spinning moves standing in front of her, with her hands behind his head, Peta completely whips him in the head right above his eyebrow with her elbow!
“I have never hit anyone that badly in my whole life,” Peta says to the camera while Nyle heads to get checked out.
“So I just left the hospital and I had to get four stitches in my left eyebrow,” he later tells the camera through an interpreter, outside! “I definitely realized today that dancing is definitely a full contact sport… and I like it.”
When he officially joined the cast, Peta was asked on GMA about how she plans on teaching him since he cannot hear (he is the first deaf male contestant — Marlee Matlin was the first deaf female on season six). “Honestly, it’s all visual,” she said. “And it’s more a challenge for me this season, and it’s a great one. I love working with him. He’s such a great student and we’re hitting it off, we’re doing our moves great and it’s going to be an amazing season.”
Watch the video below, then watch the premiere of DWTS tonight on ABC at 8PM! The pair will be dancing the Cha Cha with DNCE‘s “Cake By The Ocean.” We have a feeling it’s going to be seriously amazing! Are you rooting for them? Let us know!
