Kim first revealed her new haircut and ombre color, which was styled by MIZANI Global Artistic Director Cesar Ramirez on March 16. He described the inspiration: “Being a new mom can take a toll on anyone’s beauty regimens. There’s nothing like a new cut and color!! It’s the ultimate pick me up. That’s why I love what I do, I love inspiring people to feel great and look sexy.”

For the color, Cesar went for a “base of a nice chocolate brown with a fine tone on tone highlight. Cesar painted her face frame with some bold toffee and caramel pieces. It’s his revamp to the ombré (No need for all over ombré. This technique gives you a lived-in, grown out, rock and roll color just so people think you really aren’t trying too hard).”
As for the cut: “Once the color was perfect. Cesar cut about 5 inches off and did a lot of his layering through texturizing. He loves the idea of invisible layers. The reason for this is that some days he likes to style her hair to look all one length (it’s super modern) but for a daily style, he wanted it to have a cool bed head feel.”

To style Kim’s effortless waves, “Cesar always starts with MIZANI. After he preps with MIZANI 25 Miracle Milk, he protects and strengthens the hair with MIZANI Thermastrength Heat Styling Serum to make those colored ends feel strong again. Then, he either rough dried or smoothed with volume. Next, he used a flatiron to build texture.
Tip: A few simple bends is enough to create a lot of movement for his signature done/undone look. The secret is to not try so hard!”
