Annalise was stunned to learn that someone she thought she could trust was involved in the death of her unborn baby. Is [SPOILER] gone forever? Creator Pete Nowalk is spilling season three scoop!
Did How To Get Away With Murder just say goodbye to a fan favorite? The season two finale left one character’s fate on the show up in the air after Annalise learned that the character played a role in the death of her baby. Creator Pete Nowalk is revealing what’s next for [SPOILER] and more! Warning: Major spoilers ahead!
We finally learned why Frank killed Lila, and it was all because he owed Sam. Frank accepted a bribe to bug Annalise’s house, which led Wallace Mahoney ordering the truck to hit Annalise. The accident killed Annalise and Sam’s unborn child. Bonnie revealed Frank’s secret, and Laurel discovered in the show’s final moments that Frank had skipped town.
Pete admits this season has been about learning who Frank truly is, and there is much more story to tell with him.
“I definitely knew it would be a season where we got to know a lot about Frank, because we had to answer the question of why he killed Lila,” Pete told our sister site TVLine. “It was the major thing that we left off with [in the Season 1 finale]. So, I came into the season knowing that I wanted to figure out a way that Frank, basically, killed Annalise’s baby and felt a ton of guilt about that — and how it tied him into Sam. It really is the ultimate betrayal to Annalise and makes me understand why he’s so loyal to her… I will say this, there’s still so much more to explore with Frank.”
Did Frank shoot Wallace before he left town? It’s a strong possibility. That could have been his way of saying sorry to Annalise for his involvement. However, Annalise isn’t exactly a forgiving person. She told Bonnie that Frank “needs to go,” and Pete revealed that could mean a number of things. Is Annalise out for Frank’s head?
“I think that’s a really good question, but I will not answer that question because I think it’s up to the audience…” Pete told our sister site Variety. “This is the biggest betrayal of her life, besides Sam being involved in Lila’s murder. For her, in that moment, she does not see a way to forgive Frank or even a desire to forgive Frank. Instead, it’s the opposite. It’s this desire to see him go — however you want to interpret that. We’ll reveal more about that next season.”
