News anchor Maria Menounos gave fans a very candid look at her struggles with infertility on Mar. 17 when she shared a series of videos on her Snapchat of an egg collection appointment. From her puffy face to her IV bag, Maria showed it all. We have the intense photos, here.
Maria Menounos, 37, just got engaged to longtime boyfriend Keven Undergaro and now it seems like they’re trying for kids! Maria shared several videos on her Snapchat story of an in vitro fertilization appointment where she was getting her eggs retrieved. It definitely doesn’t look fun. We have all the pics of her brave experience, right here.
Maria shared a very brave and very real moment with her fans on Mar. 17, when she Snapchatted her IVF appointment. “Egg retrieval time” show wrote in front of her depressed, frowning face. In the next video she’s in better spirits. “They’re starting to drug me, it feels good,” the E! News anchor explained from a hospital bed, showing her makeup-free face.
Fiance Keven sits supportively by her side as she shows off her IV bag and the rising sun. “One more egg retrieval as the sun comes up. Oh boy,” says Maria after a full night of collection. Maria is letting her fans see the difficult side of waiting until you’re older to have a child.
Maria has been very outspoken about delaying motherhood. In 2011 she admitted that she wasn’t prepared to be the “best mother she could be” quite yet, and not much had changed by 2015, when she told Redbook “Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning with everything that’s going on in my life and there aren’t even kids in my equation yet.” On top of that, she knew she was running out of time. “On my reality show last year, I was talking about freezing my eggs. I started the process, but I wasn’t successful, and it’s still not happening. So let’s call it what it is–not a good situation.”
Keven proposed to Maria on Mar. 9, after 18 years together. Perhaps that stability is what convinced Maria to finally go through with IVF to have a baby. However, she may simply be trying again at freezing her eggs. Either way, it’s incredibly brave of her to share that struggle with the world, and we wish her the best.
