We’re so jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo! And no, not just because he has the perfect body. He also has the coolest sneakers ever — the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, which are new self-lacing kicks! Watch him try on the shoes we’ve been waiting for ever since ‘Back To The Future II!’
Cristiano Ronaldo‘s shoes are better than ours and that’s because his self-lace — just like Marty McFly’s (Michael J. Fox) did in Back To The Future II! That’s right. Nike unveiled a very cool, new pair of sneakers, and they let the soccer star be the first athlete to try them on. Watch the video here!
“Wow! Thanks @nike for letting me be the first athlete in the world to try the new HyperAdapt 1.0 #nike2016#nikeinnovation,” Cristiano captioned the video seen below. In the clip, which he shared on Instagram March 16, Cristiano slips on the sneakers and then, you can hear the laces tighten up as the soles illuminate. They look so cool!
Nike unveiled the new shoe at the Nike Innovation Summit on March 16. When it’s officially released, it’ll be the first sneaker to feature real-life power laces. “Your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” Tiffany Beers, the project’s technical lead, explained, according to Tech Crunch. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.” Their primary purpose is to alleviate distraction, which is apparently a typical concern for athletes.

The shoes will launch during the 2016 holiday season, in three colors. But you must be a Nike+ member to buy them.
