How horrific. A Staten Island mother was charged with murder for allegedly tossing her newborn baby girl into the trash. The innocent child was still alive at the time — so heartbreaking.
Nausheen Rahman, 28, has been charged with the death of her newborn daughter, after the baby’s lifeless body was found in a plastic garbage bag. She had gone to Staten Island University Hospital on March 11 and told staff that she was bleeding as a result of giving birth, but there was no record of it. That’s when the awful discovery was made.
This is so sickening. Nausheen allegedly told investigators on March 12 that she gave birth to the baby, who was not immediately identified, five days earlier, according to the NY Daily News. When police arrived on scene, they found the newborn baby unconscious and unresponsive in a black garbage bag in front of her Staten Island home. Sadly, emergency crews pronounced the child dead at the scene.
Prior to the discovery, Nausheen had walked into the emergency room at Staten Island University Hospital North and complained that she was bleeding as a result of giving birth at home, sources said. She admitted to hospital staff that she gave birth five days prior and “threw away” the baby. The heartless mother was charged with second-degree murder after a medical examiner determined that the baby was alive before it was thrown in the trash, according to NBC 4.
It’s hard to stomach this gruesome act. Hopefully justice will be served. Our thoughts are with that innocent baby’s family during this difficult time.
