Holy spoiler, Batman! Ben Affleck revealed in an all-new interview that a fan favorite character is DEAD in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ You won’t believe who it is!
There’s one character that definitely won’t be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ben Affleck, 43, spilled details on the “devastating death,” one that hit Bruce Wayne/Batman really hard. Warning: A huge Batman v Superman spoiler is ahead!
Okay, brace yourselves for this shocker. Are you ready? Here it goes… ROBIN IS DEAD! At least in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yep, Batman’s main sidekick is six feet under. Robin’s death is one of the main reasons why Batman is who he is in the new movie.
“He’s bitterly disappointed in the past that he’s lost this guy who fought by his side,” Ben told Entertainment Weekly. “That character’s death must have been devastating to him, and he’s suffered. We get the sense that he’s suffered a lot of devastating losses before this movie even starts.”
Is anyone else’s jaw on the floor? This is a bold move for Batman v Superman. All three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies did not feature Robin by Batman’s side, but the idea of Robin was teased in the final moments of The Dark Knight Rises with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character.
Ben’s Batman is very different from Christian Bale’s Batman. Not only is Ben’s Batman going up against Superman, his Batman is much more jaded.
“What I wanted was to create a Batman that was sort of at the end of his rope physically and psychologically and emotionally, a guy who was beaten down by the world, a guy who was a little bit more of a slugger, who has more gray in his hair, and who was questioning whether the whole journey that he lived as Batman was in fact even worth it, given that he was not superhero, but now had to face a super-being, which none of the other Batmans had to confront in the movie world,” Ben continued.
