It’s a good thing all dogs go to heaven because that’s where Bruiser, Elle Woods’ sidekick in the Legally Blonde films is now, after passing away March 10. The cute little Chihuahua starred in both the original 2001 film and its 2003 sequel.
So heartbreaking! The adorable brown pooch that was a constant companion to Reese Witherspoon‘s Legally Blonde character has passed on. Read on more more details about the little pup’s amazing life.
The actress made the sad revelation via her Instagram account, posting a throwback photo of the pair together in the film. She captioned it, “With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday. He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together … I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser 💔.” Awww, it’s good to know Moonie lived a long and happy life.
On this day – a day of "throwbacks" I give you one of the greatest little dogs…"Moonie" of Legally Blonde fame. I'm sad to say that this morning in Los Angeles he left us. He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy. #RIP #moondoggie #studioanimalservices #moviedog #legallyblonde #chihuahua #chihuahuasofinstagram #reesewitherspoon #famousdogs #bruiser #ellewoods #hollywood #tbt #throwbackthursday @reesewitherspoon @renniedyball 📷: online source

Bruiser’s trainer Sue Chip also posted the news to her account as well, saying “On this day – a day of “throwbacks” I give you one of the greatest little dogs…”Moonie” of Legally Blonde fame. I’m sad to say that this morning in Los Angeles he left us. He was a whopping 18 years old. I remember the day I brought him home as a puppy.” She included a photo of Moonie with Reese during her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony, and it’s so cute that he was present for something like that!
Moonie was already an adult dog when he first starred alongside the actress in the iconic 2001 comedy Legally Blonde, which saw perky coed Elle Woods follow her former boyfriend to Harvard Law School in order to impress him and win him back. The pooch had an even bigger role in the movie’s 2003 sequel, which saw Elle go to Washington D.C. to fight for animal rights.
