Olivia (Kerry Washington) was still helping out Mellie (Bellamy Young), but it wasn’t official. Olivia couldn’t officially work for Mellie’s campaign. The optics of the whole thing would be a bit off. Olivia advised Mellie to get Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) to support her campaign. He didn’t have to verbally say it, but he just couldn’t support Susan.
Speaking of Fitz, he was spouting game all over Washington. He was flirting with every girl he came into contact with. Abby (Darby Stanchfield) had her hands full facilitating the women in and out of the White House.
Abby was dealing with Fitz all on her own, while Cyrus (Jeff Perry) was in his own world. He had lunch with Vargas until Sally showed up to ruin it. Cyrus wanted Vargas to buck up and use the shooting to his advantage. Vargas was the ultimate good guy, so he didn’t want to take things there. For now, Cyrus just offered to be his ally.
Spying On The Enemy
Meanwhile, OPA had a new client — the Secret Service! A party got out of control, and a hooker was dead. OPA took care of the crime, with Quinn leading the way. My how she’s grown!
Olivia was pretty much out of it at the crime scene. That’s because her mind was preoccupied with Jake (Scott Foley). She watched Jake have dinner with his new girlfriend. She was certain he was up to something, but she just couldn’t put her finger on it.
Even Quinn noticed Olivia’s change in behavior. She thought Olivia was bored. After living large and in charge in the White House, Quinn believed Olivia missed it. Well, the OPA crew had their hands full with the Secret Service case. Despite handling their client’s needs, Marcus discovered that the hooker’s cell phone record had been wiped. He also got the autopsy report to prove she was murdered. But Olivia told him to let it go.
Sob Storie & Mellie’s Wrath
Vargas got his meeting with Fitz in the Oval, and Fitz acted like a total douchebag. Fitz trashed Vargas’ education bill. So Vargas went on The Liberty Report, but he told the world he did NOT want to run for president. Needless to say, Cyrus was SHOCKED.
Tom discovered that Vargas’ daughter was dying of cancer. Cyrus sat down and had an emotional heart-to-heart. Cyrus had this sob story about how his brother was hit by a drunk driver, and Cyrus stayed behind from Harvard to help him. Knowing Cyrus, could this story be fake?
Mellie brought the adorable Teddy to the White House to spend time with Fitz. What she didn’t expect was a random girl in a bath robe in front of her baby. Mellie was beyond pissed. She took Teddy right back and left. Go, Mellie, go!
Fitz was going through girls like they were candy. One of his conquests asked him to comment on Olivia working on Mellie’s campaign. The oblivious Fitz was stunned to learn his two exes were working together.
Elsewhere, David was caught in the middle of Liz and Susan. Liz was determined to get Susan to the Oval. She forced Susan, with David’s help, to go on The Liberty Report to support Fitz’s education bill, even though she wasn’t a fan.
‘But She’s Not You’
Jake showed up at Olivia’s in the middle of the night. He knew she’d been watching him. Olivia claimed she only wanted Jake to be happy, but we all know that’s a lie. “She’s perfect,” Jake said to Liv. “But she’s not you” Olake had a hot, brief sex scene, but Olivia put a stop to it. There was just something off about Jake.
But now we have to talk about Olitz. Olivia and Fitz had their first face-to-face meeting since their breakup, and it was awkward. Despite bringing up his sexual escapades, she wasn’t there to berate him about that. She said she didn’t care. Lies. She was there to fix Abby’s problem — the Secret Service scandal.
Olivia criticized Fitz for his poor judgment lately. The Secret Service were taking queues from him. He hadn’t exactly been setting the best example lately. She compared Fitz to his father, and that set him straight.
Fitz finally started acting like the POTUS and sat down with Susan. She actually liked Vargas’ education bill. Even though this was totally against Fitz’s plan, he agreed to endorse her. However, she didn’t want his support after the way he had been acting lately. So Fitz pledged to earn it.
Fitz fired the Secret Service agents involved in the scandal. Cyrus made all the right moves, and Vargas asked him to run his presidential campaign. Oh, and Cyrus had lied about his “brother.” What a snake.
The biggest shocker of the night came when Olivia went to Rowan’s house. He was in the middle of a celebration. What celebration you ask? Jake was ENGAGED to Vanessa! Olivia was forced to toast to the engagement, and now she was desperate to find out what Jake was up to. Seriously, what is he up to?!
