Dr. Luke’s contract with Sony doesn’t end for a year, but it’s looking like he’ll be dropped well before then! The company is reportedly hoping to terminate the producer’s contract amid the public’s outrage over the court’s decision to force Kesha to continue working with him. This is huge!

A judge ruled that Kesha would not be able to break her contract with Sony, even though Luke, her alleged rapist, also works for the company. Several celebrities and hundreds of fans have, understandably, created a major stir about this decision, and it’s become a nightmare for Sony, which is why executives are ready to just take Luke out of the picture completely, according to The Wrap. Because there was not enough evidence to prove that Kesha had been abused by her longtime producer and collaborator, the New York State Supreme Court ruled with Sony and Luke, but the company has apparently decided that keeping the 42-year-old around isn’t worth the hassle, controversy and scrutiny any longer.
However, a lawyer for Dr. Luke was quick to release a statement on the producer’s behalf denying that Sony was giving him a pink slip. “This is not true,” the lawyer told Rolling Stone. “Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony. His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up.”
At this point, it is unclear how Sony plans to officially part with its employee. The music company previously explained that they would make sure Kesha wouldn’t have any interaction with Luke whatsoever, but by ending his contact, the execs would certainly make a major statement. Luke has vehemently denied raping Kesha, and has even pointed out that in a previous court case, she testified that he never forced himself on her. However, the singer’s side of the story is that she was pressured by him to give that statement. Stars like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and more have publicly supported Kesha in this horrible legal battle.
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Sony would drop Dr. Luke? Or did you see this coming?
